About Kokab
History
Kokab is the stage name of Sergio Silva, a Portuguese DJ / Musician / Producer who first brought the innovative Reactable to Portugal. Since very early Sergio Silva showed interest in music, especially on classical music. At only 8 years, he moved to Switzerland and it would be precisely in Switzerland where his musical training in piano began and was quickly recognized as a gifted student.
At 18, he returned to Portugal and found a fascination for electronic music. Carl Cox, Silicon Soul, DJ Vibe, Jeff Mills are some of the artists that inspired Kokab and guided him into this direction.
When he started DJing, surrounded by vinyl and heavy cases he moved from party to party spinnin’ his tunes at every occasion he could find.
Feeling the need to create and perform his own music, he started creating music on his computer in the beginning of 2005. Kokab recalls it a – Period of Darkness – trying to master the art of making music and refining it gradually. The project called “Kokab Land” is the result of all the hours invested…
Going through several phases and music styles such as Electro House, Tribal House, Tech House, with a mixture that includes a personal touch coming from classical music back- ground, his creations are a reflection of deep personal surroundings and experiences in which he constantly tries to attempts to reach the soul of his audience.
Constantly perfecting his technical skills, knowledge of the latest music trends and working with as many different music styles as possible Kokab can really create anything he likes.
In 2007, Sergio Silva noticed the ‘reactable project’. An impressive Computerized Synthesizer which was being developed and stopped in 2011 to be replaced by the Reactable Live!

For his productions, as well as his Reactable Live! projects, Kokab composes most of the sounds himself. He is always working for improve his productions to achieve unique and exciting mixes.
